WINE IN PUGLIA

A local friend showed us the beauty of her hometown, Locorotondo, and it felt like
being let in on a quiet secret. By this point in our trip, the weather had turned
unexpectedly cold, something we hadn’t quite packed for. She took us to a vineyard
just outside the Centro Storico, where small fires were lit, blankets were draped over
hay bales, and the views stretched out across the countryside. We sipped wine,
talked about her plans to travel to Australia and visit us, and simply took it all in. It
was one of those unexpectedly magical afternoons. There are countless towns
tucked into the hills of Puglia, impossible to see them all, but it’s the charm, the
warmth, and the people you meet that leave the deepest impression. Sitting there,
surrounded by sage green vines climbing concrete walls, watching the sun dip low
and glow softly on the horizon, felt truly special.
